Accountability in an Algorithmic Society: Accountable towards whom?

Abstract of this paper:
In our data-driven society algorithms exert tremendous power and influence. We therefore wish to increase the ‘accountability’ of actors that deploy algorithms in their decision-making processes. Rather, alternatives might need to be considered.
